Similar to individual goal setting, having a clear team objective is important for the progress and performance on that team. Having a realistic but challenging team goal will lead to increased motivation, team cohesion, effort and ultimately performance. In the first session, the team will establish their goal for that season or period and discuss different aspects and challenges of reaching that goal. Based on this discussion, the first goals will be set for the team. In the following sessions, progress is monitored and discussed, and new goals are set consequently. Athletes are encouraged to be critical and provide constructive feedback on the goals and the process. The final session should take part after the season or period and consists of a final evaluation of the goal.
