Knowing when and what to say to yourself is a skill that can be developed to help athletes perform better.
Self-talk refers to everything an athlete says to him or herself either internally or out loud. While most athletes already talk to themselves, knowing when and what to say to yourself is a skill that can be developed to help athletes perform better. This program focuses on building effective self-talk scripts that can help athletes work on technical and tactical elements, improve focus and attention, and feel more confident. During the sessions, athletes will determine critical events in their sport and link different cues to these events. Athletes will then practice these cues and determine which ones work best.
